Today, I sent out the inaugural issue of Bliss Notes. The topic is how to bring a little spring zen to your nest. Archives will be available on the Bliss Notes site on May 15th.
I'm excited. Very excited. This feels like the start of something great!

Is it wrong for me to be so much in love with a logo? Or the robin resting on my logo?
I'm a little excited about this project.

I've been so busy enjoying the gorgeous weather after what seemed like an eternal winter. I had planned to write yesterday afternoon but felt so supercharged after driving around with the windows down, playing Madonna's Ray of Light over and over again as I played kiddie chauffeur, that I decided to wander around outside instead. And then, of course, the park beckoned after school. How does anyone who lives in some place like Hawaii ever get anything done?
I've been busy working away on my new project.
Let me tell you, there is nothing like publicly stating that you are working on a novel to make you want to do anything but work on a novel. I have been in one of the most creative and prolific periods in my life of late working on everything but the novel. (See, I got one of my Martha Stewart "Best Wishes" garlands and rearranged it and trimmed down the E to an L so it read "Bliss". And then hung it on the curtains in my "studio." Crafty, eh?)
Life just seems to be taking me in another direction right now, so rather than letting my perception of what I should be doing (the novel) battle what my instincts are telling me to do (my latest passion), I'm I'm going to embrace life's flow.
And life is leading me here:
Isn't it pretty? My BFF Sharon at Two Roads Marketing did the logo design. For spring we added the robin.
Bliss Notes is an online guide to abundant living I'm in the process of launching.
("Abundant living? Is she on about The Secret again? Clearly she's off her meds and into the Koolaid")
When I launched the Dwell on These Things blog, I honestly did not think that all of this positive thinking would amount to anything more than funny blog fodder. But there is something about looking at the lovely side of life that simply makes life better.
As someone who has had a lifelong struggle with depression, joyful thoughts do not always come easily, however. I need constant reminders to focus on the good. I've been looking for someone who was equal parts Dalai Lama and Kate Spade to send me regular reminders to take a deep breath and think about all of the beauty the world has to offer. I wanted to read about fabulous places to visit, creative people, inspiring books, and gorgeous design, and get practical tips to help bring more balance and flow into my life. And since I had a really clear picture of what I wanted and could not find something to fill that need, I wondered if maybe this was the Universe's way of drawing me a big old obvious roadmap of what I should be doing next.
So, right now, I'm working away on the inaugural issue, to launch some time in May. The website will be ready very soon but I wanted to give my Dwell readers the very first glimpse of what is to come. If you are interested in receiving the premiere issue when it's hot off the (virtual) press, you can sign up for the (totally free) email now in the fancy sign up box to the left.
If you notice any hiccups, please feel free to let me know. I've been monkeying around with Sharon's templates and heaven only knows what I've done (I was the one who somehow unleashed Korean language packs on my old T.O. Mama site.)
