Baby, it's warm outside
I have figured out why Hollywood portrays parenting young children as an idyllic world. It's because they have a bloody nice climate.
Today was a perfect day weatherwise. 20-some degrees and sunny all day. And so Baby Girl and I took advantage by spending the morning at Riverdale Farm which is the best darned thing in the city for kids. It's free, there are lots of cute animals to look at, there is lots of free parking and they sell three home-made chocolate chip cookies for $1.
And all of that fresh air tuckered her out for a good long nap. And then the afternoon was spent at the park and hanging out at the coffee shop watching the cars go by (frozen drink today, just too hot for the discount latte).
And before I knew it, it was dinnertime. And there were no tears at all today - not even from me.
I really hope Canada links up with Turks and Caicos. Parenting would be a lot of fun there.
Some day, I might be at Riverdale Farm and see a pregnant woman whip out a fabulous Coach wallet to buy some cookies for a little girl, and I'll be like, "Should I?". But then Josephine will do something fussy, and I'll say something like "Quit being such a little knob Josie" just a little too loud and blow my cover and then the aura of mystery would be dispelled.
We go after three on Tuesdays anyway, because we like the Farmer's Market - so we'll always be like strollers that pass in the day.

Me too! Me too!
My daycare provider had to go on a field trip, so I stayed home yesterday with the boys. Well, not exactly home.
In the morning, we visited the Early Years' Centre I used to frequent when on mat leave, and while Simon slept the afternoon away, Tristan and I did some gardening. Who knew gardening with a three-year-old could be relaxing? The sun is a miracle drug. Then we all went to the park and had a picnic snack.
By the end of the day, I was trying so hard to place my finger on the really odd emotion I was experiencing - it was contentment. Go figure.
