Apologies and Another Park
OK. We're starting this post with a string of apologies. The goddess look post was meant to be a Dwell one. For MUBAR I would have included something pithy about the politics of greek dress and how although even though commoners are now allowed to wear the proverbial red chiton, we still use dress to define who we are, be it the lululemon pants of Yonge and Lawrence, the Tod's loafers of Leaside, the rocker mom or ironic retro mom of areas defined by their eastness or westness, or the look du jour in my neck of the woods (hairband holding back blonde highlighted ponytail, cartier panthere or tank francaise watch, solid earthtone linen a-line skirt, fitted sleeveless top, and large sunglasses typically sporting the double C on the arms).
I would also have a discussion of mommy arms and how baring our arms could be a powerful statement -- these are the arms that rock the cradle, baby.

I also need to apologize to the good people of Mississauga who told me that Mississauga is no longer the flat treeless place of childhood memory. Anne of Got My Kids set me straight (very nicely too, I might add) and I think that a roadtrip is in order. As well I have been assured that High Park can be nice. Perhaps. All I know is my son is now scared of slides after a ride down the scorching hot metal one. Is there a therapist for this?

Today the gang and I hit Withrow Park. We were supposed to hit Kew Park at the beach but traffic was bad and I remembered that Withrow was close to where we were. I went there once before when the wading pool was open and the crowds were thick. Today, the place was not very full as the wading pool does not open until the end of the month. It was a big success with both Duckie (who loved swinging like a monkey from the hanging bars) and the The Dude (who manily ran up and down this ramp structure). There was no food sold there but there was shade, good playground equipment, easy parking on sidestreets and no creepy people hanging around. The best part is that the entire little kids area is fenced in and none of the play structures are too scary. I'm sure we'll be making a return visit before the summer is out.
What a lovely apology! How very polite of you!
I do hope you come out to Mississauga for a visit some day. I'd love to show you around some of my favorite places.
I'll even treat for cupcakes at Swirls Cupcake Shop in Streetville. (Any excuse to break the diet!)

Always happy to join you in East End enterprises!
As well, I know of a secret park that will fit the ticket, with the added bonus of being close enough to bring some takeout from Sushi Marche to!
