A Look at the Lovely Side of Life

Ladies and gentlemen, we've had a last minute entry...

Another gem of a park is Lionel Conacher Park across from the Summerhill subway station (it's hidden part way up Birch Street beside Cottingham school.) The park itself is fine (although the play apparatus is not fabulous for the really little ones). The wading pool is nothing special but is half-shaded by trees so you can choose to stand in the warmer part or the cooler part depending on your mood. The best part is that the splashpad attendants run a free, drop-in arts and crafts table pretty consistently (I know that most parks are supposed to run these programs but this park seems particularly focused on it). There is quite a bit of street parking (some free, some metered) and the park is accessible by subway but it still has that nice "tucked away" feeling that is missing in some of the city's more popular parks.

It's neck and neck with Kew Gardens in my mind.
